Principal Clinical/Forensic Psychologist
We are currently looking to employ a full time or part time Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our Therapy Team at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage. The successful candidate will join the Psychology Department comprised of a team of Forensic and Clinical Psychologists, as well as trainee and assistant psychologists and psychology placement students.
Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is an 82 bedded hospital with six wards consisting of a medium secure male ward, two low secure (male and female) wards, two PICU male wards and one acute female ward. The successful candidate will mainly offer psychology provision to one of the male secure wards depending on experience and expertise. Currently the Psychology Department at Cygnet Stevenage contribute to offer an integrated care pathway for service users and are able to offer a wide range of low intensity psycho-educational and/or skills based interventions. High intensity are also available including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT Skills Only), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Psychosis, ACT-Informed Substance Misuse Therapy, Fire Setters Programme, Sex Offenders Treatment Programme, Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).
The successful candidate will work across the two service lines (Secure and PICU/Acute) and will work predominantly as ward psychologist within a multi-disciplinary team on one of the male secure services. As a ward psychologist you will apply skills and expertise in clinical and risk assessments, collaboratively develop formulations and care plans and deliver group and individual psychological interventions, and offer consultation to the MDT. The successful candidate will also contribute to developing service provision in line with the newly developed models of care. This will include a role in training, supervision and service development according to skills, experience and areas of interest. Training in complex therapies such as Schema, CAT, DBT or MBT will be an advantage but additional training can be funded where required.
The applicant will be a HCPC registered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist with experience in forensic settings such as hospitals or prisons. Trainee Clinical or Forensic Psychologists who are due to be registered with the HCPC within the next six months will also be considered.
