Post: Band 5 Occupational Therapist (Maternity Leave Cover).

Salary: Starting from £25,000 (dependent on experience)

Base: Cygnet Sherwood Lodge

 A high dependency complex care service for men with learning disabilities, associated complex needs and who may have behaviours that challenge.

Responsible for:

The maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy department at Cygnet Sherwood Lodge.
Providing assessment and treatment of occupational needs under the supervision of a senior OT.
Promoting the importance of enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them being well in life.

Responsible to: Head OT, Regional Director of OT and Hospital Manager.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Sherwood Lodge, Rufford Colliery Lane, Rainworth, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. NG21 0HR.

Overview of site/Ward:

Sherwood Lodge is a 26 bed High Dependency Complex care service for males age 18+. Individuals admitted to Sherwood Lodge will have a primary diagnosis of Learning Disability and mental health complex needs. The team are also experienced in supporting individuals who may have forensic histories.

Sherwood Lodge is CQC rated as ‘outstanding’ in all 5 Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE’s). There is a dedicated multi-disciplinary team consisting of: Psychiatrist, Speciality Doctor, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Activity Co-ordinators, Speech and Language Therapist, Art Psychotherapist, Nursing and Support teams.

The hospital also has four two-bedded residential units, Adele Cottage and 4, 5, 7 The Sycamores, allowing for further community integration and focus on daily living skills.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of service users within the service. In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment plan according to service user’s diagnosis and identified needs. This will be in line with any associated risks and in collaboration with the full multi-disciplinary team.

The Successful Candidate should be/have:

  • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
  • Able to demonstrate some experience in the field of Learning Disabilities and other complex needs.
  • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
  • Able to effectively manage and prioritise own workload
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Resilience and ability to manage complex clinical presentations.

Requirements
