Overview of the service:

Cygnet Hospital Godden Green provides specialist acute and PICU services for women. The hospital is situated in the beautiful countryside of the Kent Weald, near Sevenoaks. Its location, in over an acre of its own grounds, helps the hospital provide a calm and therapeutic environment.

Our multi-disciplinary teams are led by a consultant psychiatrist and include psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and specialist mental health nurses, all of whom are fully trained and accredited. We incorporate many proven models of treatment, as well as services aimed at helping individuals cope with particular circumstances, such as relationship and family therapy.

Castle Ward is our 12 bed female PICU service at Cygnet Godden Green and accepts emergency and crisis admissions.

Oakwood Ward at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green is our 15 bed female mental health acute service. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for women experiencing acute episodes of mental illness that require emergency admission.  We are opening a smaller step-down ward from our acute service in October, maximising reintegration into community living.

Our in-house MDT provides a wrap-around service that is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us and captures and manages risk and relapse in community settings.  The team consists of psychiatry, psychology and occupational therapy, as well as 24/7 support from the nursing team.

As the Head of Department, you will provide innovative leadership and support for 1 occupational therapist and 4 support staff comprising assistants and activity coordinators.  You will also provide clinical input onto our PICU service where you will put your specialist skills to best use, providing direct clinical care following an agreed model of service.  The hospital has a wide range of therapeutic facilities including an onsite gym, a recovery college, ADL kitchens and activity rooms, promoting positive risk-taking and the development of life skills for community living.
