We are looking for a passionate, focused and enthusiastic Clinical Manager to join us at Cygnet Hospital Harrogate.

Cygnet Hospital Harrogate is a long-established mental health hospital that provides an emergency admissions service across two acute ward; Haven – mixed sex and Sanctuary - female. Service users have a primary nurse and are reviewed by a consultant psychiatrist at a minimum weekly. Medical cover is provided around the clock. Referrals and admissions can be received at any time of the day.

The Opportunity...

Reporting directly to the Hospital Manager, our Clinical Managers are responsible for providing strong and effective leadership to the onsite team in order to ensure the integrity of all functions within the hospital:

  • Work closely alongside the Hospital Manager to maintain a high quality service, deputising in their absence.
  • Lead on the day-to-day clinical operational management of the hospital, ensuring the hospital is working effectively and efficiently in relation to clinical risk, care planning, ward staffing, assessment and response to referrals.
  • Ensure the hospital follows Cygnet policies and procedures and meets national professional standards
  • Monitor daily to ensure that the wards and hospital as a whole consistently meet KPI’s in patient outcomes
  • Oversee that all staff maintain full compliance with mandatory and statutory training
  • Manage and provide supervision to the Ward Managers, Psychologist, Social Worker and Lead Occupational Therapist, overseeing their departments
  • Deliver and lead on monthly clinical governance meetings, reviewing performance and standards within the hospital and cascading lessons learned
  • Ensure the MDT works together to provide a consistent approach to service user care.
  • Work within the NMC code of conduct
  • Support the Hospital Manager in ensuring the hospital has effective systems which promote safety and security.
  • Foster a culture of professional development, team support and excellent standards of care
  • Aware of the Cygnet values & behaviours and use them to provide a daily framework for your working by demonstrating a positive and objective attitude and behaviours in everyday practice however more importantly, in challenging situations.
  • Participate in the manager’s on-call system to provide the first point of contact for ward based staff, outside of normal working hours.
  • Undertake any reasonable requests including deputising for the Hospital Manager or stepping into a Ward Manager role temporarily when required.

You will have…

  • Managerial experience of leading a team within Mental Health/Learning Disability
  • A Nurse Qualification with valid pin – RNLD (Registered Learning Disability Nurse) / RMN (Registered Mental Health Nurse)
  • Excellent people management skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team; lead by example, manage performance effectively and use own initiative
  • Experience of working to CQC guidelines, relevant legislation and professional regulations
  • Experience undertaking investigations and/or the ability to manage complaints appropriately and in a confidential manner
  • Desirable: Qualifications in Leadership & Management / Health & Social Care
