Post: Deputy Head Occupational Therapist (Specialist OT level)

Base: Cygnet Hospital Woking and Woking Lodge

Responsible for: Divisional leadership of the Occupational Therapy Department for low secure and mental health rehabilitation wards, and clinical delivery within one ward.

Responsible to: Head OT, OT Director and Clinical Services Manager

Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Overview of Cygnet and Woking Hospital: Working closely with NHS England, CCGs and the CQC, we provide care and support to over 90 patients at Woking hospital and the lodge. All our patients are NHS-funded and we provide a therapeutic pathway for a range of mental health conditions, including Mental Health Acute and intensive care wards, mental health low secure wards and rehabilitation wards.   

As the Deputy Head Occupational Therapist, you will provide line management and support for the occupational therapists, assistants and activity coordinators working within our long stay wards, under the direction of the Head OT.

You will also enjoy a small caseload where you will put your specialist skills to best use, providing direct clinical care following an agreed model of service.  The hospital places a high emphasis on rehabilitation and thus has a wide range of therapeutic facilities including an onsite gym, a recovery college, ADL kitchens and many activity rooms, promoting positive risk-taking and the development of life skills for community living.

The Successful Candidate should be/have:

  • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and member of RCOT
  • Advanced experience in the field of adult mental health
  • Working as a Band 6/Specialist OT
  • Advanced understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
  • Able to effectively lead a team
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Passionate about student education

Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
