Post:    Occupational Therapist (Band 5)

Salary: £29,000 - £31,000 per annum DoE (FTE)

Base:  Cygnet Ealing, shared caseload over two wards: Sunrise (Eating Disorders) and New Dawn ward (Personality Disorders)

Responsible for: Delivery of occupational therapy for a defined caseload, with the opportunity to work across both wards. This caseload will determined by experience, interest and the skill-mix within the team.

Responsible to: Regional Lead OT and Hospital Manager for line management.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time)

Location: 22 Corfton Road, Ealing, London, W5 2HT.

Overview of site/Ward:

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards.  Using evidence-based practice, we provide agreed treatment pathways for both service lines.

Sunrise Ward provides a highly specialised eating disorder service for women, over the age of 16, including those with extremely low BMIs. 

New Dawn Ward is a 9 bed specialist Tier 4 service, providing treatment, care and support for women with a personality disorder who are ready to engage in therapy.

The hospital is a well-resourced and located in a leafy, residential area, with excellent links to the M25 and central London. The building was once a house and has retained its homely feel, thanks to the welcoming, friendly staff and pleasant surroundings. The facilities include therapy rooms, a crafts room, a studio, a new therapy kitchen and a therapy garden, and several areas of the hospital have been recently refurbished.

The MDT are a supportive and diverse range of professionals (Dietician, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Art Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Doctors, Nurses, Support Workers and Assistants) who work together to help service users progress through each stage of the established treatment pathways.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide assessment, analysis and treatment of occupational dysfunction, enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them living a meaningful life.  You will use evidence based practice, recognised outcome measures and think critically and reflect when making professional judgments. You will also receive support, coaching and supervision from an experienced occupational therapist.

The Successful Candidate should be/have:

  • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
  • RCOT Membership
  • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
  • Excellent communication, self-management and time management skills
  • Passionate about student education
  • Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation, under close supervision
  • Working as a Band 5 OT or newly qualified

Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
