Cygnet have been providing a national network of high quality specialist mental health services for more than 30 years.

Hansa Lodge is a 5 bed residential service providing outcome focused care for women with learning disabilities, who may have behaviours that challenge and associated complex needs.

We are currently recruiting for a support worker to support other members of staff in the provision of care; ensuring residents retain as much of their dignity and individuality as possible as well as being involved in the general activities of the home.

You will work 12 hour shifts on a rota basis including nights and alternative weekends and being a driver will be an added advantage but is not essential.

In this role you’ll:

  • Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all our residents
  • Promote and ensure the good reputation of the home and demonstrate positive attitudes towards residents, their families, staff, visitors and others.
  • Support residents who need assistance with independent living skills/ personal hygiene encouraging independence.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment for our residents to live in, which will involve undertaking some domestic duties and complying with policies and procedures.
  • Safeguard residents
  • Learn about individuals’ specific needs and provide help in the most appropriate way
  • Read care planning needs for residents and complete written daily records as instructed by trained Staff.

We're looking for people who have:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
  • Knowledge of Mental Health/Learning Disability/Autism Issues
  • Previous experience in care environment
  • The sensitivity and energy required to provide a trusting, stimulating and varied lifestyle for the residents
  • Full driving licence and a car driver
  • A genuine desire to make a real difference in people’s lives
  • Flexibility to work 12 hour shifts on a rota basis
