Are you an Occupational Therapist who would like to explore a rewarding career experience?

About Us

Cygnet was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales.

Your Role

Service Line: Mental Health Child & Adolescent

Hours: 32 hours per week - 4 days per week.

Location: Cygnet Hospital Sheffield,83 East Bank Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S2 3PX

Cygnet Hospital Sheffield offers a low secure service for women and CAMHS services for male and female adolescents over three distinct wards. As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist at Cygnet Sheffield, you will be based on Unicorn Ward.

Unicorn Ward is a 12 bed, CAMHS Tier 4 PICU service and provides support for young people, both male and female who have complex needs and require high intensity nursing care. The focus is on stabilisation with a view to enabling transition to a general acute ward or back into the care of community services. The service is able to provide robust care and support for young people displaying significant levels of challenging behaviour.

Unicorn Ward has full MDT input, including a specialist doctor, psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist assistant and educational support from full-time teachers and educational support staff. The service works with young people to prepare them for discharge back out of service and into their home area, whilst still in a robust and supportive PICU environment.

You will report directly to the Head Occupational Therapist on site within the service. You will also provide clinical and managerial supervision for two activity co-ordinators and also an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Our services are therapy and recovery focused, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for the Young People within our care. The aim is to effectively progress Young People though the clinical care pathways, whilst supporting them to develop new and existing skills to aid their recovery into the least restrictive environment possible. Our services also work towards reducing the possibility of readmission into mental health services.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
