Service Line: Mental Health Child & Adolescent

Salary: £26,000

Hours: 40 hours per week

Summary of the site

Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital currently has 3 wards with a 4th ward in development, our service provision includes a General Adolescent Unit, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and a Low Secure Ward.  The Head of Occupational Therapy is based on-site for support.

Clinical: You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for up to 12 Young People. The clinical role would involve carrying a clinical caseload for one of the four wards within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each Young Person to develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge.

Leadership: You would report directly to the Head of Occupational Therapy on site within the CAMHS Service. You would also be supported to develop your leadership and managerial skills through supporting Activity Co-Ordinators via clinical and managerial supervisions.

Our services are therapy and recovery focused, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for the Young People within our care. The aim is to effectively progress Young People though the clinical care pathways, whilst supporting them to develop new and existing skills to aid their recovery into the least restrictive environment possible. Our services also work towards reducing the possibility of readmission into mental health services.

 

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

 

Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction:

We understand the pandemic has brought with it challenging times, and we recognise this may have had an impact on some of your placement experiences. We offer an Occupational Therapy 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.
