We are looking for a professional, ambitious & confident Senior Registered Mental Health Nurse to join Cygnet Heathers, located in West Bromwich.

Cygnet Heathers is a 20 bed service providing neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative rehabilitation for men with mental health difficulties and acquired brain injury.

Senior RMNs with interests in leadership, research & risk assessment are encouraged to apply.

Your Day-to-Day…

  • Lead an allocated team of nurses & support workers to ensure care and associated duties are allocated effectively and within team members’ competence
  • Supervise junior staff in all aspects of their work and by example, teach and guide them
  • Work closely with the management team to develop the service, audit and improve quality
  • Attend all training and engage in CPD to further knowledge & promote nursing
  • Conduct appraisals, audits, interviews & disciplinaries
  • Under NMC guidelines, ensure that individual care plans are complete & maintained collectively with residents, relatives and other healthcare professionals
  • Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual patient programmes of care.  

You are…

  • Experienced RMN with a current Pin number
  • Capable to promote & ensure the good reputation of and act as a role model demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families visitors and others.
  • Well informed of the Mental Health Act 1983 & have an understanding of latest nursing practices
  • Able to deputise in a clinical lead role
  • Focused on patient recovery to monitor, manage & reduce risk

At Cygnet Heathers our focus is on creating an environment that engages our service users and sets the tone for recovery. Cygnet Heathers has been designed and equipped with an all-integrated physical environment to aid our service user’s neurobehavioural rehabilitation process. Our specifically designed environment assists the men to manage visual, spatial and perceptual difficulties.

Service User Profile

Diagnosis of:

  • Established or suspected acquired or traumatic brain injury, such as hypoxia, stroke, brain tumour, encephalitis
  • Established or suspected degenerative brain condition including dementias
  • Huntington’s disease or other movement disorders, displaying abnormal movements or restricted mobility
  • Alcohol related brain injury / Korsakoff’s syndrome
  • Moderate to severe cognitive impairment
  • Dysphasia or other communication problems
  • Organic psychiatric disorder or organic personality disorder
  • May present with challenging behaviour (aggression, utilisation behaviours or sexual disinhibition)
  • May present with co-morbid psychiatric disorders including psychoses, autistic spectrum or substance misuse
  • May have a forensic history
