Your Role - Occupational Therapy Assistant

Working hours - 32 hrs per week / 4 days per week (any 4 days between Monday and Friday, between 9:00am and 5:00pm)

Service Line - Male Acute Mental Health (Sycamore Wards)

Summary of the site:

Cygnet Hospital Taunton provides specialist inpatient services for adults with mental health problems and for men diagnosed with a learning disability. The hospital also provides an acute inpatient admissions service for men over the age of 18.

Sycamore 1 & 2 and Swift Wards are our male acute services at Cygnet Hospital Taunton. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for men who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant the role involves planning and implementing activities as a therapeutic medium under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist who works full time and is based on Sycamore 1 & 2 Ward.  You will also be supported by the wider Occupational Therapy Team based at Taunton including the Head of Occupational Therapy.  The post holder will be offered support and guidance to utilise standardised assessments and implement structured groups.

In this role you will work within an MDT (which consists of Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Medical and Social Work) to support recovery and rehabilitation for service users oat Cygnet Hospital Taunton

The hospital is situated in a rural setting amongst Taunton farmland, within acres of peaceful fields. This quiet and tranquil environment offers great benefit to our service users who are able to walk in the expansive hospital grounds and take in the countryside scenery. Taunton town centre offers contrast to the quieter country life with market places, shopping malls and many other entertainment areas such as restaurants, theatres and cinemas.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
